Everything about renting and selling TRON Energy on TRXWatt. Still stuck? See the API docs or the blog.
General
What is TRXWatt?
TRXWatt is a two-sided marketplace for TRON Energy. Buyers rent Energy to send USDT (TRC-20) for a fraction of the usual cost, and sellers stake idle TRX into the pool to earn rental income plus Super Representative voting rewards.
What is TRON Energy and why do I need it?
Every TRC-20 transfer (like USDT) consumes Energy. If you have none, the TRON network burns your TRX instead — roughly 6.5 TRX to send USDT to an existing holder, or up to ~13 TRX to a brand-new address. Renting Energy avoids that burn and costs far less.
Which network does this run on?
This deployment runs on the TRON Nile testnet as a demo. Connect TronLink switched to Nile. A mainnet launch follows an external smart-contract audit.
Buying energy
How much do I save versus burning TRX?
The rental price is set as a fraction of the live on-chain burn price, so a rental always beats burning TRX — typically around 50% cheaper. The exact quote is shown before you pay and adjusts with pool utilization.
How long does a rental last?
Rentals are a single fixed 1-hour window — the standard duration for a USDT transfer. Once the Energy is delegated, make your transfer within the hour; it is returned to the pool automatically at the end.
How much Energy do I need?
About 65,000 Energy covers one USDT transfer to an address that already holds the token, and ~130,000 to a fresh address. On the buy page you pick a preset from 65,000 up to 650,000 (roughly 1× to 10× transfers).
How do I pay, and how fast does Energy arrive?
Pay with TronLink (an on-chain escrow that settles atomically) or by manual transfer. Energy is delegated to your address within seconds of the payment confirming.
What if my address has never been used on TRON?
A brand-new address must be activated before it can receive a delegation. Leave "pre-activate" enabled and the platform sends a tiny activation transfer first — no extra steps for you.
Selling energy
How do I earn as a seller?
Stake TRX into the pool. As buyers rent Energy, rental income and SR voting rewards are distributed pro-rata to your share of the pool through an on-chain reward accumulator.
What return can I expect?
Returns are variable and not guaranteed. They depend on pool utilization and the live network yield (Energy per TRX per day) and burn price. The sell page has an estimator using live chain values; treat it as an estimate, not a promise.
Is my TRX locked up?
Rental earnings can be claimed anytime. Principal follows the TRON protocol’s ~14-day unstake cooldown: request an unstake, wait out the delay, then withdraw.
Do I keep my voting rewards?
Yes. Delegating Energy does not move your TRON Power, so your staked TRX keeps voting for a Super Representative and earning voting rewards even while its Energy is rented out.
Security & trust
Is TRXWatt custodial?
Seller TRX is staked into the broker contract rather than held by an operator. Withdrawal of principal is enforced by contract code via a per-seller ledger, with no selfdestruct path, after the ~14-day unstake. This is contract-custody — a deliberate trade-off versus a self-custody permission-grant model — and an independent audit is still pending. See the Risk disclosure.
Has the contract been audited?
The contract has completed an internal adversarial audit with fixes applied (fee caps, a forced price floor, bounded owner parameters, reentrancy protection, and more). An independent external audit is required before the mainnet launch.
What are the main risks?
This is testnet software. Beyond that, TRON governance can change the burn price and yield, so margins are recomputed from live chain parameters and the marketplace auto-pauses if the buyer spread inverts. The operator key is limited by an on-chain price floor, delegation caps, and a pause switch.
